What has happened to the wooden Harpenden signs located at Kinsbourne Green and Rothampstead Park? I understand that you sponser/installed these signs and they are sorely missed.
Thanks and Regards
Gary Larkins
Dear Gary Larkins
I have followed up your query with the town council and understand that both signs have been sent off for renovation and it is hoped that they will be back in place for the Jubilee. The council officer informed me that the main sign was first put up by the Harpenden Society in 1937 to commemorate the coronation of George VI and the Kinsbourne Green sign was erected in 1991 in association with the council to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Harpenden Society. The council now has responsibility of the upkeep of these signs.
Best wishes
